The beginning of 2020 was a very difficult time for all of us at WVM.

As many people, who are connected with WVM, are aware, one of our Foundation’s Founders and President, beloved Michael Murphy (known by many as ‘Mike’), very sadly passed away on December 21st 2019, due to cancer. He had been battling with this illness since July 2019.

After many years of charity work in numerous countries, Mike, together with his wife, Anette, began the activity of the Warsaw Volunteer Mission in 1995 Along with their colleague, Cezary, they officially registered the organization in 2004. From the beginning, Mike was fully engaged in WVM’s activity, and played a very active role in helping to improve the quality of life of those less fortunate.  His compassion and understanding greatly impacted many.

A very beautiful funeral service was held at the International Christian Fellowship Church on Puławska. Many people who love Mike attended. In spite of the very difficult side of the day, it was at the same time also a wonderful celebration of his life, how he made the world a better place, and the next phase of life we believe he has now begun. Heartfelt appreciation again to all concerned at ICF, and everyone else who helped to make this possible.

During the whole period of his illness, and even in his time spent in hospital, Mike continued to be a shining light, radiating with positive energy, and sharing hope, faith, and love with all around him.

His absence is greatly felt at WVM, and by his loved ones, and so many other people. In spite of this, we are now doing our best to carry on the work of the Foundation, which Mike and Anette dedicated so much of their lives to.

His life is a very clear example of how much each one of us can positively impact the world around us.

Many thanks to everyone who has continued to support WVM’s activity!
